Core Aeration: How to Enhance Your Property

Dear LIME Commercial Landscapes Community,

We here at LIME Commercial Landscapes want to help your properties stay healthy, and look beautiful. And one of the most effective ways to do so is with a process called core aeration.

What is Core Aeration?

Core Aeration is a process unlike any other in the landscaping world. Core aeration is an operation that can transform unhealthy grass into vibrant turf.  Turf can also contain thatch, thatch is a layer of buildup preventing soil from receiving the proper nutrients.  The more thatch, the worse the condition of your grass. Core aeration was designed to remove thatch and deepen root growth.

Why is Core Aeration Something That You Need?

1. Soil Compaction: No matter what, your landscape will inevitably compact, this compaction hinders water and air flow, causing dead spots to surface on your lawn. Core aeration pierces and removes small cylinders of soil, thatch, and grass. This removes the compaction from the soil and allows for better water and air flow. It also improves the effectiveness of seed and fertilizer!

2. Thatch Removal: Core aeration also contributes to the removal of thatch. Thatch can steal both hydration, and nutrients from your precious grass. Core aeration physically removes thatch and encourages new grass to grow.

3. Root Health: As listed above, core aeration removes some grass, thatch, and soil. This leaves space for newer and stronger roots, thus leading to increased grass health and lawn density.

4. Water Flow: A thoroughly aerated yard has much better water absorption leading to less puddling and more consistent grass growth.

5. How Long Does it Take? This process takes around 4-6 weeks for completion, but it only takes around 1 week to show the grass already thickening!

For all of these reasons, core aeration promotes longer lasting, healthier, and thicker grass!

Challenges and Solutions

One of the notable challenges of the Beason Tree Installation project was its location on an extreme slope, adding complexity to the installation process. However, with meticulous planning, the right equipment and a dedicated team, LIME Commercial Landscapes overcame these challenges.
